August 20, 21, 27 declared Holiday in Philippines

Two long weekends this August, is what Malacañang announced officially in their website. Proclamation no. 455 is signed by President Benigno Aquino III yesterday, declaring that August 20, 2012 is a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr.

Eid’l Fitr or ‘Feast of Ramadhan‘ is a Muslim tradition celebrated all over the world by our Muslim brothers and sisters. in collaboration for the feast, the house of the President declared next Monday as a regular holiday.

August 21 on the other hand is a national non-working holiday celebrated yearly here in the Philippines. The celebration of ‘Ninoy Aquino Day‘ is a commemoration of the 1983 assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr., father of our current President.

Another long weekend is on August 27, last week of the month. It is a regular holiday commemorated annually here in our country as to celebrate the ‘National Heroes Day‘, it is the day that marked the 1896 Cry of Pugad Lawin by the Katipunan.

So there will be a total of two long weekends set before this month ends. Now, marked your calendar pipzz and note where you will go and what you will do on these days. As for me, my husband and I has set those days to redecorate our room to add more space for our soon to be born baby. Happy two long weekends friends.
