Another head pain is currently bagging Android users this day. A new traced Trojan virus is circulating around the android market wherein if one user has it, it continuously buy apps in users behalf.
According to security vendor BitDefender, the Trojan virus named ‘MMarketPay.A‘ was traced around China’s Mobile Market and not yet proven if its already affecting other markets outside china.
It says in a technology related blog post, “When it reaches the mobile, it starts buying applications from China Mobile’s marketplace, which does not require the user to log in but rather identifies each user as it uses a China Mobile Access Point Name (APN). This allows China Mobile to add the price of every purchased application to the monthly phone bill.”
A report from security company ‘TrustGo‘, a user who has this kind of virus tries to connect to China Mobile APN and starts to browse the web as it automatically explore the market and buy specific applications without the knowledge of the user.
BitDefender said, “These actions are not visible to the user, so the scheme can go on for quite a while until the victim spots the abuse.”
The Trojan Virus was said to be downloaded 100,000 according to a report made by TrusGo. As of today, it seems that the app is still way to far from our own Mobile Market. So to all Android users, be aware on any apps you’ll be downloading.
