Job Fair Season heats up this quarter

Take your pick among the hottest jobs of 2012

The graduation season is at its peak and so is the jobhunting race among our young people. For those who will be graduating from college this month until May, the next biggest challenge is landing their first ever job. Meanwhile for those who have less than one year to around four years work experience, ‘tis probably the time to move on, move up or change gear for a better career opportunity.

Hottest Jobs bared

In a recent press launch participated by the number one job site in the Philippines, JobStreet.com bared the hottest jobs for the Filipino youth jobseekers that deserve a second look especially for those who are pondering what can be their next best career move.

According to JobStreet.com, around 72% of the 63,500 jobs* available on their website, that is almost 46,000 jobs are for young people. More than 32,500 are for those with one to four years work experience and about 13,000 are for fresh graduates and those with less than 1 year work experience.

Based on jobs posted from the same period, the specializations that are in-demand among the young people are those with skills in Customer Service, Healthcare (nurse assistants), IT/ Computer Software, Clerical & Administrative Work and Human Resources.

Tough Competition Awaits the Youth

The Commission on Higher Education lists around 450,000 graduates of pre-baccalaureate and baccalaureate courses every year and more than 80% of these graduates are those who finished courses in the fields of Medical & Allied, Business Administration & Related, Information Technology, engineering & Technology, and Education/ Teacher Training.

“Now if we add up the young people who haven’t had a chance to a first job plus those who would like to explore better career opportunities versus their first job, we now accumulate a lot of fresh grads or those with less than one year work experience who are racing to entry-level positions in each and every company in the Philippines,” explains Yoda Buyco, marketing director of JobStreet.com.

“Meanwhile we have our young people who have had more than one to four years work experience and they are usually not just looking for jobs with better compensation, but they are after jobs that they really would like to work on for the next two to three years,” adds Carolyn Enriquez, senior marketing manager of JobStreet.com.

This psyche among our young people result to their career mobility until they finally land the job of their dreams.
