This coming Saturday, October 8, 2011, senior citizens will be treated with a Free LRT rides in accordance to the celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week (EFW, Oct. 1-7) which was announced by the Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD.

DSWD collaborated with DOTC and LRTA to make this free rides available for the Senior Citizens.

DSWD quoted saying, “The Free rides will be available at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 (Baclaran to Roosevelt) and Line 2 (Recto to Santolan) for the whole day of October 8.”

The only requirement for the seniors to avail this free rides is to present their Senior ID cards and presto they’re all free in rides for that said date.

For everyone’s information, EFW is celebrated annually from October 1 to 7, pursuant to Proclamation No. 470 issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos on September 26, 1994.
