Pedring exit, Tropical Storm Quiel enters PH



Typhoon Pedring left the country yesterday while Tropical Storm Quiel has entered the Philippine territory this Thursday morning and it will direct hit the Cagayan and Isabela region on Sunday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA officer-in-chief and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Graciano Yumul said, “Inaasahan po natin ang [public storm] signal magsisimula na ng Sunday. Kaya Thursday, Friday at Saturday, makakahinga po tayo. Sunday masisimulan na pong maramdaman ng northern Luzon si Quiel.”

PAGASA weather bulletin as of 4:00 a.m., today, “Tropical Storm “QUIEL” was located based on satellite and surface data at 1,240 kms East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.3°N 134.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to move West at 10 kph.”

Meanwhile, Graciano Yumul explained that the western part of National Capital Region (NCR) will still experience rains due to southwest monsoon.
